Discoloration of gold when Sized Down

Dark Spots on Gold

I have a 10kt 15mm herringbone weighing 47.3grams.I had it cut down to 16" and where the clasps meet the chain is slightly discolored it is spotted black.The spots are only at the ends and nowhere else on the necklace.I took it to another store for an appraisal and was assured it is solid gold but was not given an explanation as to the spots.Thank You for help you can give me
