7 Top Significance of Birthstone Jewelry

by Simon Johnnson

Precious stones and gems have had a major significance in the life of humans since time immemorial. They are connected to human facets like birthdays, anniversaries, astrological signs, behavior and events. There are various gem stones that are closely linked to the nine planets and also to days of the week. These gem stones are associated with months and birthdates and are related to us as our birth stones. There are twelve specific birthstones to represent the twelve months of the year.

The popularity of birthstones has given a boost to the jewelry industry which has not lost this opportunity to reinforce the importance of birthstones. This practice is held in great regard not just by superstitious people but also by lovers of accessories. Popular superstition has it that these gem stones bring good fortune and are propitious to the wearer. Each birthstone has been given the name of the corresponding name of the months in the Gregorian calendar. This article deals with the gems allocated for the first seven months and will give you a brief overview of the gemstones.

1.The birthstone for the month of January is Garnet. It is deep red in color and usually stands for qualities like truth, loyalty, friendship and purity of the soul. Garnet is even considered by some to have powers of healing. This is because at one time, this stone was used to cure diseases of the heart, blood and the lungs. The Victorian age was especially fond of this stone. Garnet is even believed to enhance the wearer’s sensuality, so why not give it a go?

It is traditionally linked with qualities like stability and inner strength. Peace and courage are also often associated with the Amethyst. It is said to be curative of the circulatory system, even helpful for insomnia and alcohol addiction.

3.The birthstone for those born in March is the Aquamarine. As the name suggests, this stone comes in colors ranging from blue to sea-green. They are semi-precious and very popular as jewelry stones. It is considered to be representative of qualities like bravery and loyalty. It is also held to be curative of stress related disorders or problems with the throat.

4.The birthstone for April is Diamond. Diamonds are usually colorless: clear and shiny! This stone helps people with relationship troubles as well as in augmenting their inner strength. The diamond is also said to help cure diseases of the brain and pituitary glands.

5.The birthstone for May is Emerald. It’s very popular because of its deep green hue and is considered to represent faith, memory and psychic powers. It helps cure problems with the spine, eyes and fertility.

6.Pearl belongs to the month of June. Usually known for their white, milky beauty, the pearl is considered to represent purity, chastity and faithfulness. It helps cure problems with the heart, spleen or stomach.

7.For July it is the Ruby. Ruby is known for its beautiful red shade and is said to represent integrity, dedication and happiness. Such powerful qualities must be the reason why it is believed to help against problems related with blood.
